Best Early Morning Breakfast in Delhi: 14 Places Open by 8:30 AM

Delhi has quite a few excellent restaurants for early morning breakfast. So if you’re an early riser (or jet lagged), get out of the hotel and have breakfast at one of these spots. All are open by 8:30 am, and some much earlier.
My favourite places for early morning breakfast in Delhi:
- Amour Bistro: best all-around breakfast
- Juggernaut: best South Indian breakfast
- Andhra Pradesh Bhavan: best local Delhi breakfast experience
- Cafe Lota: Best traditional Indian breakfast with a twist
I’ve marked all the restaurants on this Google map so you can find one close to where you’re staying.
Best Early Morning Breakfasts in Delhi
Delhi has everything from traditional Indian breakfasts served in humble canteens to elaborate Western-style breakfasts in stylish cafes. Here are my favourite spots, along with a few others worth trying:
1. Juggernaut – South Indian Breakfast

Opens: 4:00 am (Barakhamba Road), 6:00 am (Kailash Colony)
Location: Barakhamba Road and Kailash Colony
Juggernaut is one of my favourite South Indian restaurants, and especially good if you want a traditional early morning Indian breakfast in Delhi.
The menu has South Indian favourites like idli, dosa, vada and uttapam, along with excellent filter coffee. It’s a great place for a proper sit-down breakfast, and the Barakhamba Road location opens exceptionally early.
2. Mysore Cafe – Old School South Indian Breakfast

Opens: 7:00 am
Location: Shop 12, South Avenue Market, New Delhi
Mysore Cafe is an old-school South Indian restaurant where former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi used to eat breakfast. It’s close to Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate and other sites, making it a great place to start a morning of sightseeing.
The menu has traditional South Indian breakfast foods like dosa, uttapam and filter coffee. I had uttapam here, a savoury pancake made from fermented rice or lentil batter. It was very good and a nice change from the usual breakfast foods.
3. Blue Door Cafe – All Day Western Breakfast
Opens: 7:30 am
Location: Shop 66, First Floor, Middle Lane, Khan Market
Blue Door Cafe offers an all-day breakfast menu of mostly European and Western foods like waffles, eggs Benedict and smoothies. They focus on fresh and healthy dishes.
This is a great early morning breakfast spot for a first time Delhi visitor. The location is ideal in upscale Khan Market in one of the nicest areas of Delhi. After breakfast, walk to captivating Lodhi Garden.
4. Andhra Pradesh Bhavan – Breakfast at a Government Canteen

Opens: 8:00 am (breakfast is served 8-10 am)
Location: 1 Ashoka Road, near India Gate, New Delhi
Andhra Pradesh Bhavan is one of Delhi’s best-known state bhawans. These are government guesthouses with canteens that serve regional food at very reasonable prices. They’re a hidden gem and a unique part of Delhi’s food scene, thanks to its role as India’s capital.
I’ve been eating lunch at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan for years, it’s very humble, but the food is excellent. I haven’t tried their breakfast yet, but the canteen opens early and serves traditional Andhra breakfast dishes.
5. Shyam Sweets – Traditional Old Delhi Breakfast
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: 112, Chawri Bazar Rd, Old Delhi
Shyam Sweets is a well-known sweet shop in Old Delhi, but in the morning they are more popular for traditional North Indian breakfast foods. When I was there in the morning for carrot halwa (a winter sweet), everyone was eating bedmi puri with aloo sabzi (puffy bread with potato curry) and chole. I was the only one getting sweets!
Located in Chawri Bazaar, this is a great place for breakfast if you’re exploring the sites of Old Delhi.
6. Cafe Lota – Breakfast at the National Crafts Museum

Opens: 8:00 am
Location: National Crafts Museum, Bhairon Marg, New Delhi
This excellent cafe is located in Delhi’s National Crafts Museum, one of the best museums in Delhi. You don’t have to pay the museum entry fee to eat at that cafe, though the museum is worth seeing while you’re there.
The innovative menu offers contemporary versions of traditional Indian specialties. The use of whole and ancient grains is prominent, even making its way into the millet crepes. Excellent coffee and teas too.
7. Saravana Bhavan – South Indian Vegetarian Breakfast
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: Janpath Road, Connaught Place, New Delhi
Saravana Bhavan is a popular South Indian vegetarian restaurant. Despite the name, it’s not one of Delhi’s government-run state canteens, but part of an international restaurant chain.
The menu is completely vegetarian, with South Indian breakfast classics like dosa, idli, vada and uttapam, served with sambar and chutneys. It’s a great choice for an early breakfast in Connaught Place, located very close to Jantar Mantar.
8. Cafe Tesu – Stylish South Delhi Cafe
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: Essex Farms, 4 Sri Aurobindo Marg, Adchini, New Delhi
Cafe Tesu is a beautiful cafe in Essex Farm, South Delhi, known for its bright, colourful interiors and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a popular spot for coffee, breakfast and brunch, with a menu that includes eggs, pancakes, sandwiches and other cafe favourites.
I haven’t eaten here yet, but it’s on my list for my next Delhi trip. There’s also outdoor seating and a bakery counter.
9. Amour Bistro – My Favourite Breakfast Cafe

Opens: 8:00 am
Location: Block C, Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi
This is easily the best cafe in Delhi for breakfast. Amour Bistro is open all day and everything is good, but breakfast is superb.
The breakfast menu is extensive: lots of egg dishes, quiche, bowls, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and pancakes. The last time I was there I watched monkeys playing in the trees while I enjoyed my eggs Benedict.
10. La Croute – International Breakfast Near Sunder Nursery
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: 8 Ground Floor, Sunder Nagar Market, New Delhi
La Croute is a French-style bakery and cafe located near Sunder Nursery and Humayun’s Tomb. The cafe has an excellent breakfast selection, with a mix of Indian, Turkish and French dishes. I haven’t eaten in the cafe yet, but I have tried their pot pies and baked goods at the Farmers Market in Sunder Nursery and they were very good.
The cafe location is fantastic if you want to explore Sunder Nursery or Humayun’s Tomb (UNESCO), both are well worth visiting and you could stop here for breakfast first.
11. CAARA at Ogaan – Ricotta Pancakes with Honeycomb Butter

Opens: 8:00 am
Location: Malcha Marg Market, Chanakyapuri
CAARA at Ogaan is a stylish cafe tucked inside the Ogaan designer fashion boutique in Chanakyapuri. It’s a small but pleasant cafe that serves a European-style breakfast with dishes like eggs, pancakes and freshly baked pastries.
It’s located right in Malcha Marg, where many expats and diplomats live, so very popular with that crowd. Honestly, I came here strictly for the pancakes with honeycomb, and they were pretty good. This is a decent choice if you’re in the area, but personally I think Amour Bistro (just around the corner) is a bit better.
12. Laduree – A Very Pink Parisian Cafe
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: Shop 17, Khan Market, New Delhi
The famous French patisserie and macaron king is located in fabulous Khan Market. The cafe is upstairs, above the bakery and has the most over the top decor I have seen in Delhi. It’s definitely not your typical Delhi cafe and has a very feminine, Parisian feel.
The breakfast menu is a bit limited, mostly eggs Benedict, omelettes and scrambled eggs, but it’s worth considering if you want a more elegant breakfast in a posh cafe.
13. Dirty Good – Breakfast & Pickleball
Opens: 8:00 am
Location: One Golden Mile, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi
Dirty Good is located at One Golden Mile, an upscale dining destination with several high-end restaurants that turn into lively bars and clubs at night. Dirty Good is one of them. I’ve been here in the evening, but not for breakfast.
The all-day breakfast menu includes pancakes, French toast, eggs and breakfast burritos. There’s also a pickleball court, so you can play a game after breakfast if you’re feeling energetic.
14. Lavonne Cafe – Breakfast from a Famous Baking School

Opens: 8:30 am
Location: D-16, Defence Colony, New Delhi
Bangalore’s most famous pastry shop opened a restaurant and patisserie in South Delhi. Everything is prepared at the Lavonne Academy of Baking Science and Pastry Arts, one of India’s most respected baking schools.
Lavonne is a great place for breakfast, with a menu that goes well beyond pastries. I had a wonderful breakfast here, and dessert of course. The French pastries are outstanding, so even though it’s breakfast, save room for something sweet.
Last Words on Best Early Morning Breakfast in Delhi
There’s no reason to settle for hotel breakfast in Delhi, even if you’re up early in the morning. Whether you want a traditional Indian breakfast, French pastries or a big Western-style breakfast, there are plenty of excellent places to choose from.
My personal favourite is Amour Bistro, but if you’re visiting Delhi for the first time, I really recommend trying a traditional Indian breakfast at least once. It’s a great way to experience a more local side of the city.
