Connaught Place is the unofficial centre of Delhi. It’s at bustling area full of restaurants and shops, all set out in easy to navigate blocks. By staying in one of the hotels in Connaught Place, you’ll be able to easily reach all the sites of Delhi.
I also really like this area because there’s a lot of pedestrian traffic, making it a safer neighbourhood at night and better for solo travellers.
Before I moved to Delhi I stayed at a number of these hotels myself. I really like this area and find it extremely convenient for exploring.

This neighbourhood is well serviced by the Delhi Metro. You can get to any part of Delhi and the international airport easily on the metro.
- The Imperial New Delhi (luxury): One of Delhi’s most prestigious hotels and my personal favourite. It’s a beautiful and luxurious heritage hotel built during the British Raj. Exceptional location on Janpath Road within walking distance of many sites.
- Shangri-la Eros New Delhi (luxury): One of the best 5 star hotels in Delhi. It’s a larger contemporary property on the outer edge of Connaught Place in Lutyens’ Delhi – the greenest part of the city. Very good location close to many sites. Great hotel for foodies – the restaurants here are fantastic.
- The Connaught (luxury): An art deco hotel within a short walk of the main shopping and entertainment area of Connaught Place. Rooms are comfortable and many overlook Shivaji Stadium. Request a room on the other side if you want a more scenic view. It’s pet friendly.
- Radisson Blu Marina Connaught Place (luxury): Delhi’s only 4 star hotel in the centre of Connaught Place. Great for business travellers and those that want a gym. Some rooms have terraces. Great location on the inner circle of Connaught Place with numerous restaurants and shops steps away.
- Hotel Palace Heights (mid-range): My top choice for a mid-range hotel in Connaught Place and fantastic for Delhi first timers. Lovely, small hotel on the inner circle of Connaught Place. Shops, restaurants, the metro and numerous amenities are less than 5 minutes walk. They have an excellent Indian restaurant, Zaffran.
- Bloomrooms @ Janpath (mid-range): Wonderful location on a quieter street in the same area as The Imperial and Shangri-la Eros at a fraction of the cost. Each floor has a common area with free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks so guests can socialize. Excellent location to sightsee from.
- The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa (mid-range): Excellent value for a 5 star hotel in Connaught Place. Great location for business and leisure travellers, close to the business centre of CP, embassies and many tourist attractions.
- CP Villa Bed & Breakfast (budget): Small guest house tucked away in a quaint residential enclave of Connaught Place. Simple, but clean rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Lovely garden to unwind in after a day of sightseeing. Great value for the area.
How to Get to the Hotels in Connaught Place
The best ways to get to the hotels in Connaught Place are by Uber or the Delhi metro.
Uber is widely used in Delhi and very reliable. It’s also cheap. An Uber from the airport into the centre of Connaught Place is less than INR 450 ($5.00 USD). You will need data to use the app, but you can pick up a SIM card at the airport.
The Delhi metro is the best way to move around the city, though if you have a lot of luggage this won’t be practical. There is a an airport express line from the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Connaught Place is famous for being the British built commercial hub of Delhi. It is a bustling area full of nice restaurants, coffee shops, and local and international brand stores.
Spend your day in Connaught Place shopping at one of the international or domestic brand shops, exploring Palika Bazaar or Janpath Market, relaxing with a coffee, and eating in one of the famous restaurants. There’s also several galleries and great bookshops.
