Connaught Place is the unofficial centre of Delhi and an excellent place to stay at, especially if this is your first trip to India. It’s at bustling area full of restaurants and shops, all set out in very easy to navigate blocks. By staying in one of the hotels in Connaught Place, you’ll be able to walk to many attractions, and be able to reach Delhi’s most popular sites quickly. I live in Delhi and know Connaught Place well, and I’ve stayed at a number of these hotels myself.

This neighbourhood is well serviced by the Delhi Metro. You can get to any part of the city and the international airport easily with the metro. Connaught Place also gets a lot of pedestrian traffic, making it a safer neighbourhood and an ideal spot for sole female travellers.

1. Imperial Hotel New Delhi – Best Heritage Hotel $$$

The Imperial is one of the most prestigious hotels in Delhi and a personal favourite. Built during the British Raj, the Imperial exudes traditional luxury in an unpretentious way.

Rooms are generous and well-appointed, the Imperial Spa is one of the best in Delhi, the outdoor pool absolutely gorgeous, and the hotel is home to one of Delhi’s top Indian restaurants, the Spice Route.

The Imperial’s location in superb. Situated on Janpath Road, it is only a few minutes walk to the main shopping and dining district of Connaught Place, and within walking distance of many Delhi sites like Janpath Market, Jantar Mantar, Agrasen ki Baoli and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

2. Shangri-La Eros – Best Buffet Breakfast $$$

Shangri-La Eros is one of the best 5 star hotels in Delhi. It’s a larger, contemporary hotel, situated on the outer edge of Connaught Place, close to Indian Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The hotel is ideal for business and leisure travellers. It’s close to the diplomatic enclave and business districts, but also a short auto rickshaw ride away from many of Delhi’s attractions and sites.

You’ll be able to relax at the massive pool, visit the world-class spa and dine in one of the excellent restaurants. There’s an amazing all you can eat dim sum lunch at Shang Palace.

3. The ConnaughtBest Art Deco Hotel $$

If you love art deco, this is the best hotel in Connaught Place for you. Guest rooms and public spaces are beautifully styled in art deco-luxe design.

Rooms are comfortable and on the larger size. Many overlook Shivaji Stadium – ask for a room on the other side if you want a more scenic view. There’s a gym, pool, lounge and restaurant on the premises. It’s also pet friendly.

The Connaught is walking distance of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, and the main shopping and entertainment section of Connaught Place.

4. Radisson Blu Marina Hotel – Best for Business Travellers $$

It’s also a great hotel for tourists. You can count on reliable comfort from Radisson, and everything is just outside the hotel’s front door: Delhi metro, parks, movie theatres, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, numerous high and mid-end shops and the Palika Bazaar.

5. Hotel Palace Heights – Best for Solo Travellers and India First Timers $$

Hotel Palace Heights is ideal for solo travellers and first timers to India. It’s located right in the heart of Connaught Place, steps away from all the shops, restaurants, cafes and the Delhi Metro.

This part of Connaught Place is super easy to navigate (all blocks are lettered), and has everything a visitor could possibly need. Delhi’s most important sites are very near, and there’s a metro station right there so you can easily get to anywhere in the city.

It’s a smaller hotel and there’s no gym, but it’s clean, comfortable and has one of the best Indian restaurants in Delhi, Zaffran.

6. The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa – Best Value $$

Being the only mid-price 5 star hotel in Connaught Place, Delhi, makes the Metropolitan excellent value.

It’s also an excellent location for business and leisure travellers, situated close to the corporate and finance centres, embassies and many of Delhi’s tourist attractions.

Guest rooms are comfortable and there’s several restaurants, including the well regarded Chutney, a spa, pool and business centre.

7. Bloomrooms @ JanpathBest for Social Travellers $$

If you’re hoping to meet other travellers while in Delhi, this Connaught Place hotel is a good option. Each floor has a common area with free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks where guests can socialize. Rooms feature cloud beds and rain showers.

Bloomrooms @ Janpath has a fantastic, quiet location. It’s an easy to walk to all the amenities of Connaught Place, but located on a quiet lane behind the main street. You can walk to Jantar Mantar in 5 minutes.

The hotel has a small fitness centre and a restaurant.

8. CP Villa Bed & Breakfast – Best for Budget Travellers $

This place is a little gem. Tucked away in a quaint residential enclave of Gol Market, this small bed and breakfast has just 4 guest rooms. Despite being so close to a busy Delhi market and in the heart of Connaught Place, it’s peaceful.

One of the best things about CP Villa is the large garden where you can enjoy your chai or just decompress after a day of Delhi sight-seeing.

Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable with ensuite bathrooms and their own private patios. For anyone on a budget, this is great value for the area.

How to Get to the Hotels

The best ways to get to the hotels in Connaught Place are by Uber or the Delhi metro.

Uber is widely used in Delhi and very reliable. It’s also cheap. An Uber from the airport into the centre of Connaught Place is less than INR 350 ($4.20 USD). You will need data to use the app, but you can pick up a SIM card at the airport or a service provider in Delhi.

The Delhi metro is the best way to move around the city, though if you have a lot of luggage this won’t be practical. There is a an airport express line from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. This is exactly how to get into Delhi from the airport.
