Looking for the best mid-range hotels in Delhi? Then you have come to the right place!

There are great mid-range hotels in Delhi for under US$120 a night if you know where to look. Before I moved to Delhi full time, I often visited and would try out different hotels. I have either stayed at or visited each of these mid-range hotels. These are my favourites.

If it’s your first trip to Delhi, read my complete guide and suggested itineraries for Delhi.

Nicest and Most Affordable Mid-range Hotels in Delhi: Quick List

If you’re in a hurry, here are my top picks of mid-range hotels in Delhi:

Why I Don’t Recommend Hotels in Paharganj and Old Delhi

A congested street in Old Delhi full of pedestrians and mopeds
A congested street in Old Delhi – can you imagine coming back to this after a long day of site seeing?

If you are searching for mid-range hotels in Delhi, the neighbourhoods of Paharganj and Old Delhi will come up again and again. I do not recommend staying in either. Both are interesting to visit (especially Old Delhi), but not good areas to stay in.

There are many historic sites in Old Delhi, but this is a noisy and congested part of the city. It’s also hard to get an Uber in Old Delhi since the main road Chandni Chowk is a pedestrian zone during the day, and most drivers don’t want to deal with the traffic congestion at other times.

Paharganj is the backpacker part of Delhi and has a slew of budget accommodations, but it is not a safe area at night, and it’s also noisy, polluted and congested.

Below are some suggestions in much better parts of Delhi, some at very reasonable prices.

The Nicest and Most Affordable Mid-range Hotels in Delhi

The Indian capital may be home to some of the most expensive and luxurious hotel rooms in the country, but there are still plenty of options if you’re travelling on a less than 5 star budget.

Mid-range Hotels in South Delhi

South Delhi is a great part of the city to stay in. The majority of monuments and sites are in this area and it’s well connected by metro. The greenest and most affluent neighbourhoods in the city are located in South Delhi.

Home@F37

Super Deluxe Twin room at Home@F37

I love the location of this hotel – it’s a 5 minute walk to the Delhi metro, giving you access to all sites and monuments in the city. It’s also across the street from the restaurants in Kailash Colony Market, like the popular Juggernaut.

Home@F37 is a small property with 21 guest rooms which gives it a cozy feel. It’s not a new property, but the rooms are larger than most hotels at this price point, and it’s located on the main road of one of Delhi’s better middle class neighbourhoods.

Rooms have standard amenities including free wifi, tea/coffee maker and smart TV. In winter the rooms are equipped with air purifiers and oil heaters. The hotel has a restaurant, business centre and meeting room.

Hotel Mayur at CR Park

This is a small hotel, located in a quiet (by Delhi standards) area of Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) in South Delhi. CR Park is a great neighbourhood, influenced by its high Bengali population. If you like freshwater fish, Kolkata style street food and sweets, you’ll be right at home here.

Hotel Mayur is very comfortable. All rooms have the standard amenities, including coffee makers, and many have balconies. You can walk or take an auto rickshaw to the Delhi metro, making all the sites of Delhi accessible.

If you are planning a stay during the last 2 weeks of October, double check the dates of the Durga Puja festival. CR Park is the centre of Durga Puja celebrations in Delhi, and will be incredibly busy and noisy during this time.

The Manor

The Manor is one of Delhi’s boutique hotels and rooms are over US$120 a night, except for the Executive rooms for two people. If you can get one of these you’re in for a treat.

The hotel is intimate, there are only 12 rooms and it’s set in a large garden, unique for Delhi. The Manor is in a quiet, upscale neighbourhood and you can walk to the Delhi metro. Executive rooms have standard amenities and there’s an Italian cafe, bar, spa and exercise room on the property. 24 hour room service is available.

Bnineteen

Bnineteen is a small boutique hotel with a high level of service and well known for their exceptional Indian breakfast. It’s located in an exclusive residential part of South Delhi, Nizamuddin East, next door to Humayun’s Tomb, one of Delhi’s UNESCO world heritage sites. In fact, there are views of Humayun’s Tomb from some of the guest rooms.

Each room is unique, but all are very comfortable and clean. The only issue is the proximity to Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station – you will hear trains. If you are a light sleeper this could be a problem. You will also need a rickshaw to reach the Delhi metro. Other than that, the location is fabulous – in the heart of the most historic part of South Delhi.

Jaypee Vasant Continental Hotel

A deluxe room at Jaypee Continental, one of the best pet friendly hotels in Delhi
Superior room, Jaypee Vasant Continental – I could see the Qutub Minar from this room

This 5 star hotel is located in Vasant Vihar, an upscale middle class neighbourhood in South Delhi. It’s a great hotel with all standard amenities and business services. Room prices range depending time of year, but booking.com lists many weeks with prices $120 or below.

The hotel has an excellent location. It is next door to a metro station, the Priya Complex (an outdoor retail and entertainment hub with excellent shops, cafes, restaurants, bars and a movie theatre) and a large park with historic monuments. It is 8 km from the airport, about 30-40 minutes by car (very good by Delhi standards).

The hotel is pet friendly and has dedicated female only rooms with extra security. I had views of the Qutub Minar (UNESCO) from my room.

Mid-range Hotels in Central Delhi

Central Delhi is a bit more commercial than South Delhi, but still a fabulous part of the city to stay in. It’s very well serviced by the Delhi metro and home to many sites and attractions.

Hotel Palace Heights

Hotel Palace Heights is a small property with about 15 rooms. It’s located in the centre of Connaught Place, making it an ideal choice for tourists and first time visitors to Delhi. The metro is within short walking distance which means you can easily go anywhere in the city.

Connaught Place is the unofficial centre of Delhi and a commercial and retail hub. There are numerous shopping, dining and entertainment options in Connaught Place – you can walk to all of them. Because of this, it’s a great option for solo female travelers.

The hotel has some business amenities and an excellent restaurant, Zaffran, which specializes in north Indian cuisine. Rooms have standard amenities, are comfortable and clean.

Bloomrooms @ Janpath

This is a comfortable minimalist hotel with a fabulous and quiet location. As the name suggests, it’s on Janpath Lane, close to many of Delhi’s amazing sites including the main commercial and retail centre, Connaught Place. Rooms have the basic amenities as well as cloud beds and rain showers. Each floor has a common area with free non-alcoholic drinks and snacks.

The hotel facade is sunny yellow and the whole property has a bright and airy ambience. If you like a more modernist, stream-lined look this is a good option.

Mid-range Hotels Options Near the Delhi Airport

Hotels by the Delhi airport are expensive – they are virtually all 5 star except for a couple of 4 star properties which are still over US$120 a night. There are more budget friendly options close to Aerocity, but they are not properties I would recommend.

This hotel is still budget friendly and within a half hour from the airport:

This small hotel is in Gururgram, about a 30 minute drive from Indira Gandhi International Airport. Rooms are significantly cheaper if you book through booking.com instead of the hotel website. Cyberhub is 2 km away (an outdoor retail and entertainment hub), so you’ll have endless options for food and shopping.

The hotel has a restaurant, and Cyberhub which has a wide variety of excellent restaurants is very close. Rooms are comfortable with standard amenities including free wifi.

How to Pay Less for a 4 or 5 Star Hotel Near the Delhi Airport

These hotels, which are all 4 and 5 star properties, have rates under US$120 a night posted on the aggregator site booking.com during non-peak tourist season (March to September):

Use the Delhi Metro Airport Line to Get into Delhi

The Airport Express Line of the Delhi metro

Another option if you can’t find a mid-range hotel near the Indira Gandhi International Airport is to take the Delhi metro to South or Central Delhi and stay at a hotel there. The Delhi metro system is one of the best in the world, and very easy to use. There’s a metro station right at Terminal 3. See my full guide on how to get into Delhi from the airport.

The airport metro line has luggage racks and all stations have elevators and escalators. The Delhi metro runs between the hours of 5:00 am and 10:30 pm, daily.
