I live in Delhi with my dog and we have tried a number of these hotels (mostly before moving to Delhi), but sometimes we stay in them just to check them out!
When it comes to a trip to India’s capital city you no longer have to keep your furry friends at a kennel – there are plenty of pet friendly hotels in Delhi. Hotels at every budget now welcome our furry friends. Delhi is reasonably pet friendly and there are many places you can bring a canine companion.
If you’re flying into Delhi, here are the best options to get into Delhi from the airport. (Keep in mind, the metro does not allow pets).
The Best Pet Friendly Hotels in Delhi: Quick List
If you’re in a hurry, here is a quick list of the very best pet friendly hotels in Delhi:
- Ambassador, New Delhi – luxury South Delhi heritage hotel with fantastic location
- Jaypee Vasant Continental Hotel – mid-range hotel in South Delhi not far from airport
- Let’s Bunk Poshtel & Suites – budget hotel in South Delhi’s most popular urban village
- Andaz Delhi – luxury hotel in Aerocity, very close to the airport
What is the Best Area of Delhi to Stay in with a Pet?
South and Central Delhi are the best and safest areas to stay in with a pet, this includes New Delhi. These are the quietest and greenest parts of the city and have some beautiful parks for dog walking. Apart from the airport hotels, all of these pet friendly hotels are in South or Central Delhi.
Avoid Old Delhi and the neighbourhood of Paharganj where there is a lot of budget lodging. Paharganj is the backpacker area of Delhi, next to the New Delhi Railway Station. Both areas are extremely noisy, congested and not pet friendly at all.
The Best Pet Friendly Hotels in Delhi for Every Budget
Although these properties currently allow pets, I recommend contacting reservations before making your booking to confirm their pet policy has not changed. Most hotels charge a fee for checking in with a dog or cat.
Pet Friendly Luxury Hotels in Delhi
Being the nation’s capital, Delhi has many 5 star luxury properties, generally ranging between US$180-300 a night (excluding pet fee). These hotels have the amenities a business or leisure traveler would expect at this price point and they allow pets.
Ambassador, New Delhi
This is a wonderful older hotel, full of character and in one of Delhi’s most exclusive neighbourhoods near Khan Market. It’s a designated heritage building (built in 1947) and offers cultural activities like heritage walks, feeding Delhi pigeons on the lawns, and high tea. Even if you don’t have a pet, it’s a great hotel to stay at.
Delhi’s most captivating park, Lodhi Garden is the perfect place for walking a dog and just down the road from the hotel. This is one of the reasons the Ambassador is among the best pet friendly hotels in Delhi. You can either walk there or take an auto rickshaw (most auto rickshaws allow pets).
The hotel is very well located in South Delhi, close to many monuments, sites and the Delhi metro. The Ambassador’s pool is under renovation, but guests are welcome to use the pool at its sister property, Taj Mahal Hotel and there’s a free shuttle between the two properties.

The Connaught
The Connaught is very centrally located, making it ideal for leisure and business travellers, but if you have a dog that needs walking, the Ambassador, New Delhi is a better and quieter location.
The Connaught is beside the British built commercial and retail hub, Connaught Place, with numerous shopping, dining and entertainment options within walking distance. In keeping with the architecture of Connaught Place, the hotel has an art deco feel and rooms are generous in size.
The deluxe rooms at the Connaught look directly into Shivaji Stadium, which hosts various sporting events. It’s like having a private box at the stadium. If this view does not appeal, make sure to book a superior room, or one on the other side of the hotel.

Bungalow 99
Bungalow 99 is a luxury guest house tucked away in one of South Delhi’s best neighbourhoods, Defence Colony. If you prefer a quieter (by Delhi standards) location in a residential setting, this is the place for you. There’s lots of small community parks nearby for dog walking, and the Defence Colony market has many great restaurants and shops.
Rooms at Bungalow 99 are elegant but comfortable, and the entire property has a calm energy with lots of natural light. Each floor has a living room, kitchen and verandah for 3 guest rooms. Guests can book one room or an entire apartment for longer stays.

Bungalow 157
Bungalow 157 is the sister property of Bungalow 99. It’s in the same upscale neigbourhood, Defence Colony which is a great location to stay at, and quieter for a pet. The Defence Colony market is within walking distance with many restaurants and shops and the larger Lajpat Nagar Central Market is a short auto rickshaw ride away.
Just like Bungalow 99 there is a complimentary breakfast in the cafe and they fresh squeeze all of their juices. Each floor at Bungalow 157 has 3 guest rooms, a common living room and kitchen. Guests can book the entire floor and use it as an aparment or a single room.

The Leela Ambience
This hotel is not technically in Delhi, it’s in Gurugram. It’s very close to the airport and Cyberhub where many international companies have their offices. If you’re not coming to Delhi strictly for sightseeing, this might be a great location for you.
The Leela Ambience does not usually allow pets, however, this hotel has a residence section for anyone staying 7 days or longer and pets are allowed in this section.
The Leela is a luxury 5 star brand and this hotel has all the amenities you would expect – pool, restaurants, fitness centre, spa, business services and buffet breakfast. It’s probably the best hotel in the area and service is top notch. Even though it is in Gurugram, it’s next door (literally a one minute walk away) from Ambience Mall and a very short ride to Cyberhub – two major retail and dining/entertainment hubs. The metro is also within walking distance.

Pet Friendly Mid-Range Hotels in Delhi
These hotels may not have all the amenities of a luxury hotel, but they are clean, comfortable and well located. Price range is between US$80-120 a night (excluding pet fee).
Jaypee Vasant Continental
This 5 star hotel is located in Vasant Vihar (a better middle class neighbourhood) just next door to the Priya Complex which has many excellent restaurants, bars, shops and a movie theatre. Leo’s Artisanal Pizzas and Perch Wine & Coffee Bar are Delhi favourites. It’s close to the airport, about 30-45 minutes by car.
Priya Park is practically next door to the hotel, a historic park with Lodhi era monuments. It’s a great place to walk a dog.

Minimalist Poshtel & Suites
This Japanese/Scandanavian inspired hotel is in Hauz Khas Village down the road from Deer Park, the largest park in South Delhi.
Having stayed in Hauz Khas Village several times with my own dog, I can tell you the village itself is not overly dog friendly (congested, no sidewalks or trees) but with Deer Park a five minute walk away that won’t really matter.
Minimalist Poshtel & Suites offers a variety of rooms, from capsules to full apartments, has co-working spaces, a communal kitchen and rooftop terrace. The cafe is located at its sister property, Let’s Bunk Poshtel & Suites a few metres up the lane.
The hotel is a bit tired looking and would not be my top choice in all of Delhi, but if you want to stay in Hauz Khas Vilage, it’s a good option.

Pet Friendly Budget Hotels in Delhi
There’s no shortage of budget accommodation in Delhi – these are the best ones that allow pets. They cost about US$40-80 a night (excluding pet fee).
Let’s Bunk Poshtel & Suites
This is the slightly more budget offering from Poshtel, a cross between a boutique hotel and an upscale hostel. Rooms are minimalist but comfortable, and there are plenty of common spaces.
Let’s Bunk Poshtel & Suites offers a variety of rooms from pods to full apartments. There’s an onsite cafe and rooftop terrace. The hotel is a bit tired looking but if you want a Hauz Khas Village location, it’s a good option.
The hotel is located in Hauz Khas Village, one of Delhi’s historic urban villages. It’s not the most dog friendly of neighbourhoods (lots of pedestrian traffic and no sidewalks) but Deer Park is about a 5 minute walk up the main lane. Deer Park is the largest of South Delhi’s parks and has plenty of walking paths and greenery for dogs, plus some very historic tombs and monuments.

Hosteller Delhi
Hosteller Delhi is a very popular Delhi hostel that is located in the south-east part of the city. Pets are permitted in the private rooms (not the dorm rooms).
The hostel is in a traffic busy area but there’s a nice community park two blocks away, Anand Park. The Delhi metro is also very close, just a few minutes walk. Hosteller Delhi has a community kitchen and free wifi.
The hostel hosts events for its guests and has a pretty good onsite cafe.

Pet Friendly Hotels by the Delhi Airport – Aerocity
Aerocity is perfect for anyone on a layover and there are several pet friendly hotels. It’s conveniently located beside the Indira Gandhi International Airport and you can be at the airport terminal in minutes. Most hotels offer free airport pick up and drop off.
Aerocity is a haven of better hotels, restaurants and shops, all in a walkable and easy to navigate setting.
While these hotels are pet friendly, Aerocity itself does not allow pets in the shopping or restaurant areas. However there are wide sidwalks for dog walking.
- Andaz Delhi (5 star)
- JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi Aerocity (5 star)
- Novotel New Delhi Aerocity (4 star)
- Ibis New Delhi Aerocity (4 star)
- Vivanta by Taj (5 star) (not in Aerocity, but beside the airport on the opposite side)
Airbnbs in Delhi
There are many Airbnb options in Delhi. Before moving to the city, I often stayed at Airbnbs with my dog. See my tips on which neighbourhoods to stay in and what to look for in an Airbnb in Delhi.
For stays longer than two days an Airbnb can be more convenient, particularly when traveling with a pet. Most Airbnbs are located in residential neighbourhoods which are quieter and better for pets.
Not all Airbnbs allow pets. On the Airbnb site, you can add ‘allows pets’ as a filter in the search option. Even if the listing says it allows pets, you should message the host before booking to confirm your pet will be welcome.
My dog is very small and well behaved, so if the Airbnb listing says it does not allow pets, I message the host to make the request. Many have agreed to allow him.
Practical Tips Before Booking a Pet Friendly Hotel in Delhi
- When making your hotel reservation, advise the hotel you are bringing a pet
- Most hotels charge a fee for a pet
- Double check there are no weight limits regarding pets – some hotels have restrictions
- Keep your pet on a leash in all areas of the hotel except your room
- Request a quiet room further away from elevators and high traffic areas – people walking past your room and other noises may alarm your pet
- Pets should drink bottled or filtered water in Delhi
