Delhi is already a challenging destination for many travellers, and you’re visiting Delhi with children! Don’t worry – you’ve come to the right place! I’m going to tell you exactly where to stay in Delhi with kids that is safe and child friendly.
I’m also going to cover all budgets – so whatever your price point, there’s somewhere great to stay for your family.
The truth is I live in Delhi and know the hotels very, very well. I’ve stayed in many of them personally and attended functions at the rest. Plus, I know which areas are good for visitors, which areas to avoid and what’s nearby.
Which Area of Delhi Should I Stay in With Kids?
Unless you have a particular reason for being in a different part of the city, choose a hotel in South or Central Delhi (below Connaught Place). Delhi is a huge city and if you stay in a hotel far from the centre, chances are you’ll spend hours each day going back and forth.
South and Central Delhi are nicer, safer and greener. They have more parks, are less congested and because of the greenery, the air quality is better. This is also where the majority of attractions and monuments are located.
Both areas are well serviced by the Delhi metro (which is fabulous, don’t hesitate to use it), Uber and rickshaws, so you’ll have no problem getting around.
Looking for things to do with kids in Delhi? Here’s 39 great ideas!
Where to Stay in Delhi with Kids
These are family friendly hotels in good neighbourhoods. Many have pools, babysitting and special kids activities.
1. Leela Palace New Delhi $$$
The Leela Palace is one of the most luxurious and best hotels in Delhi. Staff are extremely attentive and will do everything to make your kids feel special.
Kids will love the fabulous rooftop pool, and for adults, there’s a spa, fitness centre, four restaurants and a bar. An hourly babysitting service is available, and there’s plenty of kid friendly meals in the all day restaurant, the Qube.
The Leela Palace is in the Diplomatic Enclave, one of the most exclusive and greenest parts of Delhi. It’s within walking distance of Nehru Park, Delhi’s best recreational park for families. You’ll be able to explore all the sites of Delhi easily from this very central location.

2. Taj Mahal, New Delhi $$$
If you are a woman travelling solo with children, this is the best luxury hotel choice. The Taj Mahal offers babysitting, has kid friendly programs and special rooms for women with video phone, female housekeeping staff and a dedicated female concierge.
Don’t confuse this hotel with the Taj Palace, New Delhi. They’re both great, but this one is smaller, and its location in Lutyens’ Delhi is much better for walking and exploring the city.
The hotel is very close to some of Delhi’s most amazing sites like India Gate, Lodhi Garden and Khan Market. The location is excellent, in one of the very best areas of the city.
There’s plenty to do at the Taj Mahal. Kids and adults will enjoy the gorgeous pool and gardens, there’s also a spa, fitness centre, three restaurants, tea lounge, wine bar and cocktail bar.

3. Maidens Hotel $$$
Maidens Hotel is a luxury heritage hotel that is a bit more budget friendly than the Leela Palace and Taj Mahal.
This is a really good choice for families. The property is more intimate with only 55 guest rooms, and many are quite spacious. It’s also part of Delhi’s colonial history and very charming.
There’s a lovely pool and outdoor terrace for dining (I loved having breakfast there), two restaurants, a bar, fitness centre, and the hotel offers babysitting services.
You won’t be able to walk to any of the sites from here, but it’s still very central and you can take an Uber or auto rickshaw to go anywhere. The Delhi metro has a station (Civil Lines) a 5 minute walk up the road, and that will take you everywhere in the city. The metro is fabulous, by the way. Don’t hesitate to use it.

4. Sheraton New Delhi $$
The Sheraton New Delhi gets top marks from families. Kids love the children’s pool, games room and Fabelle chocolate boutique. Staff are very attentive to young children and go out of their way to ensure they have an enjoyable stay.
The hotel is in far South Delhi, close to the world heritage site, Qutub Minar and Garden of Five Senses, which is a good park for kids.
It’s not as central as some of the others, but it’s still a good location for exploring the city. An added bonus is that it’s next door to two of Delhi’s best shopping malls, so there are loads of restaurants, shops, and movie theatres within an easy walk.
The hotel has all the usual amenities: three restaurants, a bar, fitness centre, spa, swimming pool (with children’s pool) and chocolate boutique.

5. Lutyens Bungalow $$
If you prefer a boutique hotel, this is a wonderful choice.
First of all, the location is superb, right beside Delhi’s most beautiful park, Lodhi Garden. This is a very exclusive, quiet neighbourhood where the elite of Delhi live. It’s a walkable area close to many of Delhi’s most important sites and very central.
Rooms are simple, but elegant, comfortable and on the larger size. The pool is located in the large garden which peacocks frequent. Breakfast is included.
The hotel is actually a heritage property. It’s one of the original bungalows Edwin Lutyens designed for the British Raj. I am a big fan of this property and think it’s a great place to stay with kids in Delhi.

6. Bungalow 157 $$
Bungalow 157 is a small boutique property that is perfect for families.
Each floor of Bungalow 157 has 3 guest rooms with private ensuites, a common living room and kitchen. You can book one guest room, two or all three and have the whole apartment to yourself. In any event, you’ll have access to a kitchen and living room.
The hotel is in an upscale residential South Delhi neighbourhood, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. It’s a good location to explore Delhi and you’ll get a closer look at everyday life in the city.
I really enjoyed their home cooked breakfast with fresh squeezed juices, and the quieter residential location. The hotel is also pet friendly.

7. Prakash Kutir Bed & Breakfast $
This is one of Delhi’s favourite guest houses. It’s very central in South Delhi, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the metro. It’s an excellent base to explore the city from.
You will feel like you are staying in a lovely home here. It’s small, cozy and extremely clean. A delicious, home cooked breakfast is included. Reserve a room as far in advance as you can, this place is often fully booked.
The family that run the guest house are wonderful, and a great resource of information on Delhi.

8. The Neem Bed & Breakfast $
The Neem is one of Delhi’s best regarded guest houses. It has extra large rooms and is on a quiet residential street, two things families really appreciate. A home cooked breakfast is included.
It’s very close to Delhi’s best all around market, Greater Kailash M Block Market with loads of shopping and dining options. You’ll have to take the metro or an Uber to get to most of Delhi’s sites from here, but it should be pretty easy to explore the city.
If you’re coming to Delhi in October double check the dates for the Durga Puja festival. The Neem is pretty close to where the main festivities are – which is fabulous if you want to experience Durga Puja, but not so fabulous if you have small kids and don’t want the extra noise or crowds.

9. Tatvamansi Homestay $
This homestay offers guests large and comfortable rooms and a common kitchen for cooking. For families looking for a budget place to stay with kids in Delhi, this is a terrific option.
The location is a little far from Delhi’s main sites, but still in South Delhi, so you can easily take the metro or an Uber to go anywhere you want.
Tatvamansi Homestay is on a residential street overlooking a park. It is very close to where the main Durga Puja festivities take place every October, so unless you love noise and crowds, stay somewhere else during Durga Puja.

Do Not Stay in Paharganj with Kids
Actually, do not stay in this part of Delhi with or without kids! This is the cheap, backpacker area and it has loads of budget hotels.
It’s tempting for a lot of budget minded visitors, but Paharganj is not that safe for tourists, and there’s no way I would recommend staying there with children.
Where to Stay in Delhi with Kids Near the Airport
I don’t recommend you stay near the airport unless you really have to, just because of the amount of time it takes to get into Delhi from there. But if you have to stay at one of the airport hotels, the best place is Aerocity.
Aerocity is only a couple of kilometres from the terminals, and there’s lots of shopping and dining options in the area. The only issue is that almost all the hotels are 5 star. There’s no real budget options.
There are lots of budget options outside of Aerocity, but most are not places I would recommend staying (but I do have one recommendation for you).
10. JW Marriott Hotel New Delhi $$$
This is one of the best hotels in Aerocity. There’s a great outdoor pool for the kids, and the restaurants have plenty of child friendly meals.
You can be at the international and domestic terminals in minutes, and there’s loads of dining and shopping options within an easy walk. If you want to get into Delhi for sight-seeing, there’s a metro station right there making the whole city easy to access.
The hotel is pet friendly, has three restaurants, a bar, outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and offers airport transfers.

11. Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport $$
This Radisson Blu is a good mid-priced option, only 5 km from the airport. You can be at the terminals in 15 minutes by car.
If you sign up for the free membership, you can book the Family Experience Package which includes a family size room, free breakfast and a kid’s welcome pack. It’s a good deal.
On top of that, your kids are going to love the resort style swimming pool, which has plenty of loungers for you too. And there’s a Great Kabab Factory restaurant on site, which most kids enjoy.
The hotel has four restaurants, two bars, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa, salon, and offers airport transfers.

12. Saltstayz Le Icon – Cyber Hub $
If you’re looking for a budget option near the airport, this is it. Saltstayz Le Icon – Cyber Hub is a small hotel, 8 km from the Delhi airport (20-30 minute drive).
What I really like about Saltstayz Le Icon is the location in a residential neighbourhood, which means it’s quiet. Rooms are small but have the necessities.
Cyberhub is 2 km away (an outdoor retail and entertainment hub), with endless options for food and shopping. The hotel does have a restaurant and offers airport transfers.

The Wrap-up on Where to Stay in Delhi with Kids
Don’t worry about where to stay in Delhi with kids, there is something in this list for every budget. Whichever hotel you choose, let the hotel know you are checking in with children and inquire about kid friendly activities. Indians are very family oriented, and most will go above and beyond to make sure your children are happy.
